Information
back to projectsDBFM project new sports complex ‘Groot Schijn’ in Deurne.
The project comprises a recreational swimming pool including slides, wave pools, whirlpools and open-air swimming pool with sunbathing area on the roof. There is also a short course competition pool with eight 25-metre lanes, and an instruction pool with diving boards and a diving platform. Furthermore, the building contains a wellness, fitness centre, catering facilities with roof terrace and meeting rooms. The above-ground structure consists of beams, columns and floor slabs and will be prefabricated to the maximum extent. The lift shafts and some structural walls are poured on site, the remaining walls are constructed in non-load-bearing masonry. Roof structures are in wood: a flat roof over the slides and a shed roof with wooden trusses over the competition pool and hospitality area. The waterproofing of most of the pools is achieved with a stainless steel basin. Except for the basement under the recreational pool, the building is founded on piles.
A skating hall will also be built next to the swimming pool. This will include a larger ice rink where, among other things, ice hockey can be played on the top floor, and below that a smaller ice rink and a runners' lab. The building is founded on short soil displacement screw piles. The entire above-ground structure is made entirely of precast concrete elements (columns, beams, floor slabs) This provides a great advantage in terms of execution speed. The roof consists of steel trusses with a span of 40 m topped with a steel deck roof. These trusses will be manufactured in one piece and brought to site.
